Parental mental health
Parents/carers mental health problems do not necessarily have an adverse impact on children’s development, but it is essential to always assess the impact they do have on individual children/young people in the context of each family situation.
Where a parent has enduring and/or severe mental ill-health problems, children/young people in the household are more likely to be at risk of significant harm.
The links and guidance provided on this website should help inform the analysis required as to the actions that should be taken to support families and safeguard children/young people.
As with all aspects of safeguarding children/young people concerns can never be shared too early and making contact with your line manager/agencies lead officers, the CAF Coordinator, or directly with Bracknell Forest Children’s Social Care department will help you establish an appropriate response.
